Diversity Summit 2021: Pathways to Equity
The 2021 Diversity Summit | Pathways to Equity took place on Friday, 22 January 2021 from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. The summit served as the official launch of the Pathways to Equity Strategic Plan for the University of Mississippi.
Dr. Gregory Vincent will serve as the keynote speaker. Dr. Vincent is the former Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Community Engagement at the University of Texas at Austin: one of the first institutions of its size to pair community engagement with their approach to diversity, equity, and inclusion. As the current Executive Director of the Civil Rights and Education Initiative and Professor at the University of Kentucky, Dr. Vincent remains a thought leader in the strategic implementation of diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. Moreover, Dr. Vincent was instrumental in helping to lay the groundwork for UM’s own Division of Diversity and Community Engagement; as he served as a consultant charged with assessing our needs and suggesting potential focus areas for campus-wide diversity efforts prior to its development.
In addition to the keynote, the summit included three breakout sessions and updates on several campus-wide initiatives that will support the plan’s success.
